The Coaching, Mastery, and A Philosophy that Supports the Journey

As an ICF Portfolio assessor, I have access to coach education and how coach training is being delivered worldwide since I receive coach assessments that way. This opportunity puts me in a position to understand how coach training is offered globally. Alongside this, I also understand coach training delivery as part of the organizations I am part of the faculty deliver the training. What I see as a commonality is that, in general, coach training organizations are doing a decent job of teaching some of the evidenced-based coaching methods to the coaches and teaching them a framework to practice in. What is missing at a large capacity is the artistry and self-awareness of the coaches. We must remember we cannot take people to places we have never been to as a guide. One must visit a part of one’s psyche to develop a relationship before one can support another being to establish or enhance that relationship in one’s psyche.

Therefore, as I deepen my mastery of coach development, mentorship, and supervision, I am further emphasizing teaching mastery through philosophical concepts and a better understanding of life experiences, their impact, and meaning for our growth as a human being and appreciate them the same.

Since last year, I have been offering a Master Class in this space to deepen the coach’s understanding and mastery of the meaning-making of life experiences, enhancing their knowledge and speaking about how that understanding can apply to their client conversations. For this Master Class, I use the Sufi approach as a philosophical tool to assess participant’s self-awareness.

The Jungian approach to the human psyche includes strengthening the relationship with the deeper part of the self, the soul. Similarly, one of the concepts in the Sufi approach is to enhance the relationship with the soul as it brings one to the state of kinship before societal rules and conditioning impact the self. I observe that this conditioning often weakens the self and takes one away from authentic self-expression.

If these concepts resonate with you, and you want to understand your life experiences better to produce a more life-giving, chosen response, consider joining us for my upcoming master class, Sufi Approach on Pathways to Heart and Life Masterclass. Although I offer this class for the coaches, anyone who is interested in further developing their self-awareness is welcome to join us. See below to learn more and to register.
